“The Gardner” ~ A Villanelle
lovingly written for my Dom
This flower blooms under The Gardner’s care,
It drinks the dew at dawn and calls to him,
The petals glisten with his touch and flair.
His gifted hands then water and prepare,
A special place to mold it and to trim,
This flower blooms under The Gardner’s care.
And when it swells in gratefulness he stares,
Reward for all his nurturing begins,
The petals glisten with his touch and flair.
No beauty does he see that can compare,
No perfume sweeter than his budding whim,
This flower blooms under The Gardner’s care
The hooded secret bud is now laid bare,
A river builds and flows beyond the rim,
The petals glisten with his touch and flair.
And when it opens wide he enters there,
Wrapped up in rosy blush a thrusting limb,
This flower blooms under The Gardner’s care,
The petals glisten with his touch and flair.
